Domaine du Bel Air Bourgueil Jour de Soif 2024

Domaine du Bel Air Bourgueil Jour de Soif is the estate's early-drinking Cabernet Franc, named for the thirst it is meant to answer.

Domaine du Bel Air sits at Benais in the eastern half of the Bourgueil appellation, where the Gauthier family has farmed organically for many years. Jour de Soif comes from the lighter sand and gravel terraces closer to the river rather than the limestone slope, soils that give a supple, open style of Cabernet Franc. The fruit is picked by hand, destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeast, with a short, gentle maceration to keep extraction light. Elevage is in tank rather than barrel and the wine is bottled young with very little sulphur, preserving its juicy fruit and bright, crunchy texture.

A light, chillable Bourgueil for charcuterie, rillettes, roast chicken and picnic food. Serve lightly chilled, at around 14 to 15 degrees.
