Domaine du Manoir de Montreuil Calvados 10 Years Old

Domaine du Manoir de Montreuil Calvados 10 Years Old is a Normandy apple brandy with a full decade in oak.

It starts in the orchard. Normandy grows dozens of small bittersweet and bittersharp cider apples, picked late and pressed into a dry, tannic cider that ferments slowly for months before distillation. The clear spirit then goes into oak, picking up colour, tannin and sweet aromas without any added sugar. Ten years is well past the legal minimum, long enough to round off the sharp young apple and bring in dried fruit, nuts and spice. Bottled at 42%.

Warm and dry, with baked apple, toffee and oak spice. Pour it neat at room temperature into a tulip glass after dinner, or have it with tarte Tatin, Camembert and other Normandy cheeses.
