Domaine du Manoir de Montreuil Calvados 3 Years Old

Domaine du Manoir de Montreuil Calvados 3 Years Old is a young Normandy apple brandy distilled from cider.

Three years in oak is the youngest the appellation allows, so the apple still comes through loud and clear, with the wood adding a little colour and spice. The fruit is a mix of bitter, bittersweet, sharp and sweet cider apples, pressed and fermented over several months into dry cider before it's distilled. In the Pays d'Auge the rules require double distillation in a pot still; elsewhere in Normandy a single column run is used. Bottled at 42 per cent.

Bright and appley, finishing warm and dry. Serve neat at 18–20°C after dinner, or the Norman way, as a pause in the middle of a long meal. Also good with apple tart or a ripe Camembert.
