Description

Domaine du Manoir de Montreuil Calvados VSOP 6 Years Old is a cask-aged apple brandy from Normandy in north-west France.

VSOP means the youngest spirit in the blend has had at least four years in cask. This one carries six, about the point where the rough edge of youth is gone and the apple is still front and centre. The estate works its own orchards and cellar in the traditional way, blending many cider apples for sweetness, bitterness and acidity before fermenting, distilling and ageing in oak, which adds colour, vanilla and light spice.

Apple-scented with vanilla and a warm, dry finish. Try it neat at 18-20°C as a digestif, or between courses as they do in Normandy. It sits nicely with Camembert and apple tart too.
