Domaine du Pélican Arbois Chardonnay en Barbi is a single-vineyard Jura white from the estate a Volnay grower founded in Arbois.

Guillaume d'Angerville, whose family domaine in Volnay is among the most admired in the Côte de Beaune, established Domaine du Pélican in 2012, convinced that the marls and limestones of the Jura were close cousins of Burgundy's; the two regions once lay beneath the same sea and now sit either side of the Bresse plain. En Barbi is one of the named sites the estate bottles separately rather than blending. Arbois is the largest and oldest of the Jura appellations, and Chardonnay here is made in the ouillé style, with the barrels topped up through ageing rather than left to develop the yeast veil that gives the Jura its more singular wines.

Serve at around 11 to 12 degrees with poultry, river fish or a hard mountain cheese; it will hold for several years.
