Domaine Dubost Morgon 'La Ballofière' 2024

Domaine Dubost Morgon La Ballofière is a cru Beaujolais grown on old Gamay and farmed organically.

Jean-Paul Dubost works out of Le Tracot at Lantignié, and this parcel of sixty-year-old plantings sits on pebbly granite over pyritic schist. Harvest is by hand at full ripeness, fermentation runs on indigenous yeast, and the wine then splits half into vat and half into barrel for ageing.

Clear red fruit leads, the start supple and the structure underneath enough to hold it, with peony and iris drifting through the finish. Lightly chilled at 14 degrees it suits charcuterie, roast chicken or a lentil salad.
