Domaine Dugat-Py Beaune 1er Cru "Les Epenotte" Blanc 2022

Domaine Dugat-Py Beaune 1er Cru "Les Epenotte" Blanc is a white Burgundy from a Beaune premier cru, made by a family far better known for the reds of Gevrey-Chambertin.

Les Épenottes lies at the southern end of Beaune, on the boundary with Pommard, and is planted overwhelmingly to Pinot Noir; Chardonnay from the climat is a genuine rarity. Bernard Dugat-Py and his son Loïc work from cellars in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, part of which occupy a medieval tithe building. The domaine is small, farmed organically and known for severe crop levels. The domaine's name joins Bernard Dugat's family to that of his wife, Jocelyne Py. Whites here are pressed in whole bunches, fermented and matured in barrel with a share of new oak, and moved as little as possible before bottling. Production is measured in a few barrels rather than pallets.

Worth a few years in the cellar; serve at about 12 degrees with roast fish, poultry or veal.
