Domaine Dugat-Py Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Morgeot" 2022

Domaine Dugat-Py Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Morgeot" is a white Burgundy from the largest of Chassagne's premier crus.

Morgeot is a broad sweep of vineyard at the southern end of Chassagne-Montrachet, so large that it takes in several named parcels within it, any of which may be sold simply as Morgeot. The soils carry more clay and limestone rubble than the lighter sites higher on the slope, and the wines have a reputation for weight and staying power. Whites are a comparatively recent chapter for Dugat-Py, a domaine built on the Pinot Noir of Gevrey-Chambertin, where Bernard and his son Loïc farm organically and crop very low. The grapes are pressed in whole bunches, fermented in barrel with a measured share of new oak, and bottled in small quantities.

Serve at about 12 degrees with roast chicken, scallops or richer fish dishes; it will reward several years in the cellar.
