Domaine Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Lavaux Saint-Jacques" is one of the most highly regarded premiers crus of Gevrey-Chambertin.
Lavaux Saint-Jacques lies on the slope west of the village, at the mouth of a cool combe that keeps the wines fresh. Bernard Dugat-Py and his son Loïc work from cellars in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, part of which occupy a medieval tithe building. The domaine is small, farmed organically and known for severe crop levels. Fruit is picked by hand and sorted hard, fermented in small lots and matured in oak.
Decant and serve at about 16 degrees with game birds, roast lamb or beef; it will reward many years in the cellar.
