Domaine Dugat-Py Pommard "La Levriere" Très Vieilles Vignes 2022

Domaine Dugat-Py Pommard "La Levriere" Très Vieilles Vignes is a red Burgundy from a single lieu-dit in the sturdiest village of the Côte de Beaune.

Pommard lies between Beaune and Volnay, on heavier, iron-rich clay soils that give wines with more frame and grip than those of its neighbours, and a long-standing reputation for ageing. La Levrière is a named plot within the village appellation rather than a classified premier cru, planted here to very old vines that carry only a small crop. Bernard Dugat-Py and his son Loïc work from cellars in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, part of which occupy a medieval tithe building. The domaine is small, farmed organically and known for severe crop levels. Picking is by hand with close sorting, fermentation happens in small volumes, and the wine is matured in oak in the cellars beneath Gevrey-Chambertin.

Decant and serve at about 16 degrees with roast beef, game or braised meats; it will reward a decade in the cellar.
