Description
Domaine Dureuil-Janthial Bourgogne Rouge is a regional bottling built from Côte de Nuits parcels rather than from vines around the domaine in Rully.
Vincent Dureuil is based in Rully, in the Côte Chalonnaise, but this estate bottling has traditionally been drawn from further north: principally half a hectare at Prémeaux, at the southern end of the Côte de Nuits, and 0.34 hectares at Puligny. The average age of the vines is now over forty years, unusual for a wine at this level, and it accounts for much of the density here. The fruit was entirely destemmed and the wine raised with one-third new barrels, a more ambitious élevage than most regional Bourgogne receives. Dureuil's touch with Pinot Noir is a light one for all that, with a pre-ferment cold soak used to draw perfume and supple tannin rather than weight. Only 72 bottles came to Australia.
Ready on release and good for five or six years. Serve at 16-18°C with roast chicken, charcuterie or a mushroom risotto.
