Domaine Dureuil-Janthial Rully 1er Cru Le Meix Cadot Blanc 2019

Domaine Dureuil-Janthial Rully 1er Cru Le Meix Cadot Blanc comes from the largest of Rully's Premiers Crus, a walled clos on a chalky plateau east of the village.

Rully sits at the northern end of the Côte Chalonnaise, where limestone slopes give whites with much of the cut of the Côte d'Or at gentler prices. Vincent Dureuil-Janthial farms from the village itself and has done a great deal to lift the appellation's standing over the past two decades. Le Meix Cadot occupies a mini-plateau east of Rully, and the domaine controls 1.71 hectares planted in 1985 in a notably chalky, wall-enclosed parcel that suits Chardonnay particularly well. The name derives from meix, meaning farm, and Cadot, a common surname in southern Burgundy — the farm of Cadot. The soils are the clay and limestone found across most of Dureuil's holdings, and the vines are worked organically. The wine has the frame to age and the balance to drink early.

Already open for business, it will also reward several years in the cellar. Serve at 10–12°C with roast chicken, grilled snapper or a soft washed-rind cheese.
