Description
Le Meix Cadot is the largest of Rully's Premiers Crus, a walled site on a small plateau east of the village.
Rully sits at the northern end of the Côte Chalonnaise and makes mostly white wine on clay and limestone soils closely related to those of the Côte de Beaune. The name Le Meix Cadot comes from meix, meaning farm, and Cadot, a common surname in southern Burgundy. Vincent Dureuil-Janthial controls 1.71 hectares within a chalky, wall-enclosed part of the climat, planted in 1980 and, like most of his holdings, farmed organically for many years. The wine is often described as satiny, and despite the sunny position it is never opulent; the character is one of tension and detail, with a fleshy palate marked by citrus and white flowers. Dureuil himself has offered it as his answer to Meursault Genevrières, and in value terms it is hard to match on the Côte d'Or.
Drinking well after two years and good for a decade. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, grilled prawns or a hard sheep's-milk cheese.
