Description
Domaine Dureuil-Janthial Rully Blanc is the estate's village white, made only from organically farmed, domaine-grown fruit.
Rully sits at the northern end of the Côte Chalonnaise and makes more white than red, on limestone soils that are a continuation of the Côte de Beaune's geology. This bottling was drawn from five organically managed plots: La Martelle, La Bergerie, En Guesnes, Chaponnière and Le Meix Cadot. The vines average more than 40 years, with the oldest approaching a century, which is remarkable for the Chalonnaise. Vincent Dureuil's care in the vineyard and cellar shows in a wine with more chalky tension and flesh than the appellation usually delivers. It was vinified entirely in barrel with 20 per cent new oak, using casks from the Chassin cooperage, and given a full élevage before bottling.
Drinking well now and worth six to eight years. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, seared scallops or a creamy mushroom pasta.
