Domaine Faiveley Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2022

Domaine Faiveley Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is a white Burgundy from one of the most celebrated Chardonnay vineyards in the world.

Bâtard-Montrachet straddles the boundary between Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, lying just below Le Montrachet on the lower part of the slope where the soil is deeper and carries more clay. Its twelve or so hectares are shared among a long list of owners, so most holdings are measured in rows rather than in hectares. Faiveley, founded at Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1825 and still in family hands, has expanded steadily into the white wines of the Côte de Beaune under Erwan Faiveley. The fruit is whole bunch pressed, fermented in barrel and aged on its lees, with the proportion of new wood held in check.

Serve at around 12 degrees with lobster, scallops or a Bresse chicken; this is a wine to cellar for a decade or more.
