Description
Domaine Faiveley Chambolle Musigny "La Combe d'Orveau" is a red Burgundy from a named parcel at the southern end of the commune.
La Combe d'Orveau lies at the top of Chambolle-Musigny, hard against the boundary with Vougeot and just above Le Musigny itself, in a fold of the hillside that opens west towards the Hautes Côtes. The combe funnels cool air down over the vines, and the topsoil is thin over limestone. Part of the climat is classified premier cru and part is village land. Faiveley, founded at Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1825, farms widely across the Côte de Nuits and vinifies its parcels separately, with gentle extraction and measured new oak, an approach that suits Chambolle's reputation for delicacy.
Serve at around 16 degrees with roast chicken, veal or duck; it opens earlier than most of the Côte de Nuits but will keep for a decade.
