Description
Domaine Faiveley Latricières Chambertin Grand Cru is a Pinot Noir from the Grand Cru lying immediately south of Chambertin itself, on the boundary with Morey-Saint-Denis.
Latricières-Chambertin shares Chambertin's mid-slope band of limestone but sits at the cooler southern end of the run, beside a small combe, with a thinner covering of soil over the rock. It is one of the smaller of the nine Grands Crus of Gevrey-Chambertin, and Faiveley holds one of the more substantial parcels within it. The house was founded at Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1825 and is now led by the seventh generation of the family, which farms one of the largest vineyard holdings in Burgundy. The fruit is hand-picked and sorted, fermented with a gentle regime of pump-overs and punch-downs, then matured in French oak barrels.
Serve at about 16 degrees with roast game, beef or truffled dishes; a wine to cellar for a decade and more.
