Domaine Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges 'Les Damodes' Premier Cru 2020

Domaine Faiveley Nuits-Saint-Georges 'Les Damodes' Premier Cru is a Pinot Noir from a Premier Cru set high on the slope at the Vosne-Romanée end of Nuits-Saint-Georges.

Les Damodes runs along the upper part of the hillside in the northern sector of the commune, near the tree line and hard against the Vosne boundary. The soil there is thin and stony over limestone, with less clay than the vineyards lower down, and the wines are generally more finely built than those from the southern half of the appellation. Nuits-Saint-Georges has no Grand Cru, though its Premiers Crus number more than forty. Faiveley has been based in the town since 1825 and is now in its seventh generation, with one of the largest vineyard holdings in Burgundy; each climat is picked, sorted and vinified apart before ageing in French oak.

Serve at about 16 degrees with roast duck, veal or mushroom dishes. It is at its best between five and twelve years from vintage.
