Description

Domaine Faiveley Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Referts" is a white Burgundy from a premier cru that lies right on the boundary where Puligny-Montrachet gives way to Meursault.

Faiveley has been in the same family since 1825, when the house was founded at Nuits-Saint-Georges, and it is now one of the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, with holdings from Chablis down to the Cote Chalonnaise. Erwan Faiveley took charge in 2005, bringing a lighter touch in the cellar and a steady expansion of the domaine's white wine holdings. Les Referts sits at the northern end of Puligny's premier crus, beside Les Combettes and pressed against the Meursault border, on thin soils over hard limestone. Sites like this are usually said to give a wine with a foot in both villages. The fruit is whole-bunch pressed and the wine raised in oak barrels, with new wood kept in check.

It is a wine for the table rather than the aperitif, and suits roast poultry, scallops, veal or a firm mountain cheese. Served at around 12 degrees, it will also reward a decade or more in a cool cellar.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
