Description

Domaine Gerard Boulay Sancerre La Côte is a single-parcel wine from La Grande Côte, the coolest terroir in the domaine's range and the last to be picked.

Sancerre sits at the eastern end of the Loire, and the hamlet of Chavignol, with its steep Kimmeridgian limestone slopes, is its most celebrated corner. Gérard Boulay farms there, and La Côte comes from the majestic La Grande Côte vineyard on the outskirts of the village, a south to south-east facing hillside first bottled as a separate parcel in 2010. It has since become one of the heavyweights of the range. The soils are pure Kimmeridgian limestone, the same formation that runs through Chablis, and the site's coolness pushes the harvest late, which delivers both density and precision. The wine was vinified and aged in three and four-year-old barrels, so the oak frames rather than flavours it.

Drinking now and worth five to eight years. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled fish, chicken with tarragon or Crottin de Chavignol.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
