Domaine Goisot Bourgogne Côtes d'Auxerre Le Court Vit Blanc 2019

Domaine Goisot Le Court Vit is a biodynamically farmed single-vineyard Chardonnay from a rocky, southwest-facing Kimmeridgian slope.

The vineyard has a long history with the family. It was theirs for centuries, then the vines were removed around 60 years ago and the land given to an uncle; Guilhem Goisot bought it back roughly 15 years ago and replanted it mainly to Chardonnay with 30 per cent Pinot Noir, following the mixed plantings of earlier generations. The Chardonnay sits on white clay over Kimmeridgian rock, the Pinot on brown clay. The first vintage came in 2017, so these are still young vines by the standards of the cellar, and the wine sits between Biaumont and Gueules de Loup in style among Goisot's single-vineyard whites. Vinification is straightforward, with wild-yeast fermentation and no new wood.

Ready now and good for five to eight years. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled fish, a leek tart or roast pork.
