Description
Domaine Goisot Le Court Vit is a single-vineyard Côtes d'Auxerre Chardonnay from a family plot bought back and replanted after 60 years away.
Le Court Vit had been in the Goisot family for centuries before the vines were pulled out some 60 years ago and the land passed to an uncle. Guilhem Goisot repurchased it around 15 years ago and replanted mostly to Chardonnay, with 30 per cent Pinot Noir alongside it as would have been the practice in earlier times. The vineyard is rocky and faces southwest on a Kimmeridgian slope, with white clay over the Chardonnay parcel and brown clay under the Pinot. The first vintage was 2017, and among the domaine's single-vineyard Chardonnays it sits stylistically between Biaumont and Gueules de Loup. Farming is biodynamic, and the wines are fermented with wild yeasts and raised without new oak.
Drink from one to two years and hold up to eight. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, grilled prawns or a soft cow's milk cheese.
