Description
Domaine Goisot Saint-Bris Moury Blanc is a single-parcel Sauvignon Blanc from the only appellation in Burgundy given over to the variety.
Saint-Bris sits in the Yonne, a short drive from Chablis, and is the sole Burgundian appellation for Sauvignon Blanc, a legacy of the region's proximity to the Loire. Goisot make two wines from it: the Exogyra Virgula and this one, drawn from a single 1.3-hectare parcel on Barrois limestone, a Portlandian-era stone carrying plenty of pebbles and silty clay. The vineyards are farmed biodynamically. Moury is the richer and more hedonistic of the pair. As with the domaine's Aligoté, the texture is fleshier than the variety usually gives, built around a spicy mineral core and a strong saline thread. The wines share attributes with good Sancerre but tend towards a more overtly citrus and pithy profile. It is vinified in tank only and raised on its fine lees, with no oak.
Drinking well now and holding four to six years. Serve at 10-12°C with oysters, grilled prawns or a fresh goat's cheese.
