Domaine Guffens-Heynen Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Jus des Hauts des Vignes 2022

Domaine Guffens-Heynen Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Jus des Hauts des Vignes is made only from the free-run juice of at least four successive passes through the vineyard.

This sits at the summit of the Guffens-Heynen range. The fruit comes from the Vergisson crus of La Roche, Les Crays and Les Croux, all classified premier cru within Pouilly-Fuissé. Les Croux occupies the apex of the Roche de Vergisson facing south-west, where Guffens holds a selection of 1980 plantings and a parcel of 60-year-old vines in the enclosed Clos des Petits Croux, occasionally bottled alone but not for many years given how little juice it yields. La Roche and Les Crays are two of the appellation's most precise sites and would have been bottled separately were it not for hail damage. Bunch selection is exacting, no pressings are blended back in, and the wine is neither fined nor filtered. It was raised with 20 per cent new oak for 10 months before settling in concrete tank.

Worth three to five years and capable of a decade. Serve at 10-12°C with lobster, roast chicken or scallops.
