Domaine Heitz-Lochardet Meursault 1er Cru Perrières 1.5L MAGNUM 2017

Domaine Heitz-Lochardet Meursault 1er Cru Perrières is a white Burgundy from the premier cru that most Meursault drinkers would nominate as the village's finest.

Les Perrieres takes its name from the stone quarries that once worked the slope, and the vineyard is exactly that: a thin skin of soil over fractured limestone on the upper mid slope at the southern end of the commune, above Les Charmes. It has been argued for the best part of a century that Perrieres deserves grand cru rank, and it remains the most tightly wound and long lived of Meursault's premier crus. Domaine Heitz-Lochardet is based at Chassagne-Montrachet, where Armand Heitz took over the family estate in the early 2010s and brought back in hand parcels that had long been farmed by tenants, working them organically. The whites are whole-bunch pressed, barrel fermented and given a long elevage.

A format that suits a wine built for the cellar and for a table of eight. Serve at about 12 degrees with turbot, lobster, poultry in cream or aged Comte.
