Domaine Henri Germain Meursault 1er Cru Charmes 2020

Domaine Henri Germain Charmes is a Meursault premier cru from the broadest and most generous of the village's great vineyards.

Charmes lies on the Puligny side of Meursault, below Perrières and Genevrières, on deeper soils with limestone scree washed down the slope. It is the largest of the premiers crus and typically gives a rounder, more open wine than its neighbours, though the best parcels keep plenty of drive. Germain works a small holding here and vinifies in the traditional way, with a long élevage in used Burgundian barrels and minimal handling before bottling.

Approachable from two to three years and worth ten or more. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, scallops or a gruyère tart.
