Domaine Henri Germain Meursault 2023

Domaine Henri Germain Meursault is a village wine assembled from eight separate lieux-dits across the commune.

Meursault is the largest of the great white wine villages of the Côte de Beaune, and a village blend drawn from several sites is the traditional way to represent it. Domaine Henri Germain, now in the hands of Jean-François and his daughter Lucie, builds this wine from eight lieux-dits, each contributing something different: Les Vireuils brings a racier, more mineral line, Cromin on the Volnay hill adds depth, and Les Pellans, over towards Puligny, supplies freshness. Moulin à Judas and Dressoles also feature, and Lucie Germain has designs on releasing the former on its own one day. The most recent addition is Les Corbins, a rocky vineyard on the Volnay side familiar to followers of Domaine Vincent Dancer. Vines there go back to 1929, and the average age across the whole blend is over fifty years.

Best from a year or two after release and worth cellaring eight to ten years. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, scallops or a creamy mushroom pasta.
