Description

Domaine Henri Germain Meursault Limozin is a village wine from vines planted in 1937 on a clay-rich site bordering three premier crus.

Limozin is a well-placed Meursault lieu-dit tucked under the premier cru band, sharing boundaries with Les Charmes, Les Genevrières and Les Poruzots. The soil carries more clay than the crus above it, which historically has produced a Meursault of unusual intensity and length rather than an early-drinking one. Domaine Henri Germain's vines here date from 1937, and that age brings concentration and depth to what is technically a village bottling. The winemaking is consistent across the cellar: hand-picked fruit, whole-bunch pressing, fermentation with indigenous yeasts and an unhurried élevage in barrel with only a small share of new wood, followed by time in tank before bottling. Alongside the domaine's Chevalières, Limozin is the denser of the two, though no less racy for it.

Worth three or four years in the cellar and good for a decade. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, grilled prawns or a soft washed-rind cheese.
