Domaine Henri & Philippe Jouan Chambolle Musigny 2023

Domaine Henri & Philippe Jouan Chambolle Musigny is a village Burgundy from one of the most admired communes of the Côte de Nuits.

The domaine is based at Morey Saint Denis, where Henri Jouan assembled a small collection of parcels and his son Philippe now runs the estate. Holdings are tiny by any measure and the wines are made in a traditional, low intervention manner, with hand harvesting, fermentation in open vessels, restrained extraction and ageing in barrels that are largely used, so oak stays in the background. Chambolle Musigny lies immediately south of Morey Saint Denis on thinner, more limestone rich soils, and has long been thought of as the most delicately framed of the Côte de Nuits villages. Production is small enough that allocations are always limited.

Serve at around 15 degrees with roast duck, guinea fowl or mushroom dishes, and give it five years or more in the cellar.
