Domaine Henri & Philippe Jouan Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru Clos Sorbe comes from one of the better regarded Premiers Crus of the village, and is the wine the domaine is best known for.

Morey Saint Denis holds around twenty Premiers Crus alongside its five Grands Crus, and Clos Sorbè is among the more highly rated of them, lying on the slope below the Grand Cru band. The Jouan family has farmed in the village for generations, and Philippe Jouan now makes the wines, having taken over from his father Henri; the holding here is small, as everything at this address is. The winemaking is traditional and restrained, with hand harvesting, fermentation in open vats with indigenous yeasts, gentle work during fermentation and ageing in barrels that are largely used rather than new, so the vineyard rather than the cellar does the talking.

Cellar it for at least five years and preferably longer; serve at around 15 degrees with roast duck, game or beef.
