Domaine Hubert & Laurent Lignier Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2021

Domaine Hubert & Laurent Lignier Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is a Pinot Noir from the largest grand cru of the Côte de Nuits.

Cistercian monks from Cîteaux walled in these fifty hectares, which run from the top of the slope down to the main road. The soils shift a lot on the way down, so who makes it and which parcel they own matter more than the label. The family has farmed at Morey-Saint-Denis for generations, Hubert building the name from the 1970s and his son Laurent now in charge. Old vines, careful sorting, some whole bunches and around eighteen months in French oak, part new.

Deep and finely built, with black cherry, earth and spice, plus the tannin to go ten years or more. Decant an hour ahead and serve at 15–17°C with game birds, beef or truffle.
