Domaine Hubert Lamy Puligny-Montrachet Les Tremblots Haute Densité comes from a village plot interplanted up to 22,000 vines per hectare.

Les Tremblots lies on the flatter ground of Puligny-Montrachet, and Lamy’s parcel was planted chiefly between 1946 and 1970. Rather than replant, Olivier Lamy has interplanted between the existing rows with massale-selected material, lifting density to 22,000 vines per hectare, well beyond the usual 10,000 of the Côte d’Or. The logic is competition: more vines mean fewer bunches each, deeper rooting and more concentrated juice. He is open about the cost of it, noting that his high-density parcels demand more than twice the work of the conventional ones, but he is plainly convinced by the class of wine that results. What the approach gives here is a combination of ripeness, acidity and mineral intensity that a standard village Puligny rarely reaches.

Fine now but built to reward eight to fifteen years. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled john dory, chicken in cream sauce or a nutty hard cheese.
