Description
Domaine Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly is grown on the slope directly above the Chevalier-Montrachet grand cru.
En Remilly climbs the hillside above the grand crus of the Côte de Beaune and is one of the two or three Saint-Aubin sites capable of genuine grand cru scale. Olivier Lamy has two hectares here, planted in 1989, across two distinct parcels. The first lies near his Clos de la Chatenière vines on a loosely knit mix of clay and limestone and is the warmer of the two, giving fleshy, layered fruit. The second is far rockier, on almost pure limestone, and sits directly adjacent to Chevalier-Montrachet; it supplies the cutting tension that runs through the blend. Together they produce a clear step up in dimension, texture and power over the domaine’s other premier crus, while keeping the cool, mineral cast that marks all the Lamy whites, and finishing long, tightly wound and chalky.
Worth cellaring three to fifteen years. Serve at 10-12°C with lobster, roast bresse chicken or a well-aged Comté.
