Domaine Huet Vouvray Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec 2022

Domaine Huet Vouvray Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec comes from a monopole on the Première Côte with only a metre of topsoil over solid limestone.

Clos du Bourg sits on the Première Côte just above the town of Vouvray and is a Huet monopole, generally regarded as the greatest of the domaine's three single vineyards and arguably the finest site in the appellation. Huet has farmed it since 1953 and bought it in 1963. With just one metre of topsoil above solid limestone, the vines reach the mineral resources beneath almost immediately, and the warmth of the site combined with that geology gives wines of both intense mineral definition and generous concentration. Huet's demi-secs typically carry between 18 and 25 grams per litre of residual sugar, but the acidity is such that the wines read as only just off-dry. The result manages clarity and finesse while remaining open and welcoming young.

It will develop for several decades, and pairs with the spice of many Asian dishes, with pork or with a blue cheese. Serve at 10 degrees.
