Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Côtes-du-Rhône Mon Coeur 2021

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Côtes-du-Rhône Mon Coeur is a northern Rhône family's take on the wider Rhône valley, made under the Chave Sélection label.

The Chave family has been growing vines at Hermitage since 1481, an unbroken line of sixteen generations that makes it one of the oldest wine growing families in France. Alongside the domaine wines, Jean-Louis Chave runs Chave Sélection, a négociant business that buys fruit and wine from growers he has known for years across the valley. Mon Coeur is its Côtes-du-Rhône, drawn largely from villages in the southern part of the Rhône and built around Syrah with Grenache, raised with the same restraint applied at the domaine, in older wood and larger vessels rather than new barrels. The name, which translates as my heart, is a nod to the growers behind it.

Serve at cellar temperature with grilled lamb, sausages, a daube or a mushroom dish, and drink within about five years.
