Domaine Laurent-Savoye Beaujolais-Villages Cuvée Prestige 2023

Domaine Laurent-Savoye Beaujolais-Villages Cuvée Prestige comes off the oldest vines on the estate, some of them a century in the ground.

The family holding runs to nine hectares in the granite hills of the Beaujolais, ground that has always suited Gamay. Vinification follows the traditional template of the area: hand-harvested whole bunches, a long, cool ferment and ageing in tank, with no new oak involved. The old-vine parcels are kept apart and bottled under this label.

In the glass it is medium-bodied, with red and black fruit, a floral lift and a light touch of liquorice. Fourteen to fifteen degrees is the mark, with charcuterie, roast chicken or a wedge of hard mountain cheese.
