Domaine Louis-Claude Desvignes Morgon Côte du Py is Gamay from the most famous slope in Beaujolais.

The Côte du Py is the shoulder of an extinct volcano above Villié-Morgon, its decomposed blue schist soil, known locally as roche pourrie or rotten rock, giving wines of unusual depth and structure for Gamay. The Desvignes family has grown vines at Morgon since 1712 and the domaine is now in its eighth generation. Fermentation follows the traditional Beaujolais method with whole bunches.

Serve at 15 degrees with roast pork, duck or a mushroom tart. It develops over a decade.
