Domaine Moreau-Naudet Chablis 1er Cru Forêts 1.5L MAGNUM 2021

Domaine Moreau-Naudet Chablis 1er Cru Forêts comes from two plots inside Montmains, one bordering Vincent Dauvissat's vines and the other alongside Raveneau's.

Forêts is a historical sub-plot within the premier cru Montmains, high on the slope and facing southeast, and growers here have long argued it deserves to stand on its own. Stéphane Moreau described it as one of the greatest terroirs of Chablis. Moreau-Naudet farms just under two hectares across two parcels: the first, next to Dauvissat, is planted with vines of roughly sixty years, the second, beside the Raveneau plot, with vines of about twenty-five. The soil is Kimmeridgian limestone under a thin, stony topsoil. As with the rest of the premier cru range apart from Montmains, the wine ferments and matures in a combination of stainless steel and used barrels of assorted sizes, about thirty per cent wood, with élevage now running to two years before bottling.

The magnum will develop slowly and drink well for a decade. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled prawns, roast chicken or a soft goat's cheese.
