Domaine Moreau-Naudet Chablis 1er Cru Forêts 2022

Domaine Moreau-Naudet Chablis 1er Cru Forêts is drawn from two plots in a historic sub-section of Montmains, one of them alongside Vincent Dauvissat's vines.

Forêts sits high on the slope of Montmains, facing south-east on Kimmeridgian marl, and has long been treated as a cru in its own right; Dauvissat, Raveneau and Moreau-Naudet all hold parcels there. The domaine farms just under two hectares in total. The first plot lies next to Dauvissat's and carries vines of about 60 years; the second, next to the Raveneau holding, is around 25 years old. As with the other premier crus in the range apart from Montmains itself, the wine ferments and ages in a mix of stainless steel and used barrels, roughly 30 per cent of the volume in wood, and maturation now extends to two years before bottling. Bottles are sealed with Diam.

Drinking from release and worth eight to ten years in the cellar. Serve at 10-12°C with oysters, grilled scampi or a chicken and tarragon pie.
