Domaine Moreau-Naudet Chablis Grand Cru Valmur 1.5L MAGNUM 2023

Valmur is one of Chablis' seven Grand Cru climats, and this magnum comes from a 0.6-hectare parcel farmed by Moreau-Naudet.

The Grand Cru slope of Chablis faces southwest above the Serein, and Valmur forms a small valley at its heart, wedged between Vaudésir and Grenouilles on one side and Les Clos on the other. Covering around 12 hectares, it is a site that grows very cold in winter and hotter than average in summer, and its wines are known for depth and authority rather than immediate charm. The Moreau-Naudet parcel was planted in 1978, is worked by horse, and lies next to the Raveneau holding on a cooler, more shaded part of the slope. Combined with the steepness, that gives the wine a saline, mineral imprint. It is now made without oak, fermented and raised in small stainless-steel vessels.

A magnum of this will reward ten years or more in the cellar. Serve at 10 to 12°C with oysters, turbot or roast veal.
