Domaine Naturaliste Discovery Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Domaine Naturaliste Discovery Cabernet Sauvignon is the everyday Cabernet in Bruce Dukes' Margaret River line-up, with ripe blackcurrant and firm tannins.

The Indian Ocean wraps around two sides of Western Australia's far south-west, keeping the climate mild and even. That suits Cabernet, the region's great red grape. Bruce Dukes spent years as a winemaker for others here before starting his own label, and this is his introduction to the variety: regional fruit, some oak for shape, and ready to open now.

Blackcurrant and bay leaf up front, cedar behind, and the tannins are fine but firm. Good with lamb cutlets, steak or mushroom risotto at 16–18°C, and there's no rush, as it will keep for a few years.
