Domaine Naturaliste Rachis Syrah 2024

Domaine Naturaliste Rachis Syrah is a supple, spicy Syrah from Margaret River with fine tannins and a savoury edge.

Between the Indian Ocean and the Southern Ocean, this corner of Western Australia has a maritime climate and gravelly, ironstone soils. Winemaker Bruce Dukes settled here after training in California. The label borrows the Latin word for a grape bunch's stem, hinting at the winemaking, and the style puts pepper and savoury notes first, with French oak in the background.

Pepper and spice lead, over a supple, fine-grained palate. Good with venison, grilled lamb cutlets or a mushroom and lentil ragù at 15–17°C. Drink now or across the next five years or so.
