Domaine Pichot Vouvray Le Marigny 2022

Pichot Vouvray Le Marigny is an off-dry Chenin Blanc from a single site on the premier coteau above the village of Vouvray.

Le Marigny is an old, high-density vineyard on the first slope of Vouvray, just above the village, where clay and flint lie thinly over tuffeau limestone; the domaine also uses the site for its sweet Larmes de Bacchus bottlings, which indicates how reliably it ripens. Domaine Pichot farms bio-dynamically, ploughing the rows and working the vines by hand rather than reaching for systemic treatments. This bottling is left with fifteen grams of residual sugar, enough to soften the appellation's acidity into something rounder without turning the wine sweet, and it is sealed under cork for ageing rather than screwcap, as the domaine does with the wines drawn from its named sites.

Gently off-dry and rounded; serve at 10 to 12 degrees with pork, smoked fish or lightly spiced dishes.
