Description
Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'Première Pierre' Blanc is a white wine from one of the Southern Rhône's most celebrated appellations, better known for its reds but home to a small, serious tradition of white winemaking too.
The Usseglio family's story in Châteauneuf-du-Pape began in 1931, when Francis Usseglio arrived from Piedmont in Italy and found work as a vineyard labourer; by 1948 he had secured land of his own, making his first vintage the following year. Over subsequent generations the estate grew to around 48 hectares spread across Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Lirac and Côtes-du-Rhône, and is today run by the fourth generation of the family, who combine traditional, hand-harvested farming with a modern, sustainability-minded outlook and hold High Environmental Value certification. The 'Première Pierre' blanc draws on Châteauneuf-du-Pape's permitted white varieties, led by Clairette alongside Grenache Blanc and Bourboulenc.
This is a textural, structured white built for the table, well suited to richer seafood, poultry and creamy dishes.
