Description
Domaine Rijckaert Pouilly-Fuissé Vieilles Vignes is an old-vine Chardonnay from the Mâconnais, the limestone-rich southern reach of Burgundy prized for its richly textured, terroir-driven whites.
Founded in 1998 by Belgian négociant Jean Rijckaert, who had earlier co-founded the Verget wine house, the domaine built its reputation on precise, vineyard-focused Chardonnay from parcels around Davayé in the Mâconnais and in the Jura. Since 2013 the estate has been led by Florent Rouve, who continues Rijckaert's founding principles of low yields, hand harvesting and native-yeast fermentation while bringing extra freshness and tension to the wines. Vines are farmed without herbicides, relying on biodiversity between the rows, and the wine sees gentle pressing and extended lees ageing in mostly older barrels to let the Mâconnais limestone speak for itself.
A polished, mineral-driven white built for the table, it suits richer seafood, poultry and creamy cheeses just as easily as quiet, contemplative sipping.
