Domaine Rossignol-Février Volnay 1er Cru Carelle sous la Chapelle is a premier cru red Burgundy from a small family estate in the village of Volnay.

Volnay sits on the Côte de Beaune between Pommard and Meursault and is known for some of the most perfumed, finely built Pinot Noir in Burgundy. Carelle sous la Chapelle is one of the village's premier cru vineyards, and like much of Volnay it lies on limestone-based soils that favour finesse and fragrance over sheer power. The Rossignol family has long been part of village life in Volnay. The 2020 season was warm and early across Burgundy, producing ripe, concentrated reds with good structure.

Give it an hour in a decanter if opening now, and serve at around 16 to 18 degrees. Roast duck, veal, coq au vin or aged hard cheeses all work well, and it should reward cellaring for several more years.
