Domaine Rossignol-Février Volnay 1er Robardelle 2022

Domaine Rossignol-Février Volnay 1er Robardelle is a Volnay premier cru from a vineyard in the southern half of the commune, on the road towards Meursault.

Robardelle runs across the lower and middle slope at the Monthelie end of Volnay, on limestone soils with a little more depth than the stonier sites nearer the village. Volnay's reputation rests on finesse rather than power, a distinction the commune has held since the Valois dukes of Burgundy took an interest in its wines, and the village has close to thirty premiers crus but no grand cru. Rossignol is one of the old vigneron names here. Grapes are hand harvested and sorted, fermented in the traditional Burgundian way and matured in oak barrel, with new wood kept to a supporting role.

Best decanted and served at about 16 degrees with roast chicken, duck or veal; it will drink well from release and hold for a decade.
