Domaine Saint Damien Gigondas vieilles vignes is an old-vine Grenache blend from the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, in magnum.

Gigondas lies beneath the limestone teeth of the Dentelles de Montmirail, where scree washed down from the peaks mixes with red clay to give reds of real power that keep their freshness thanks to altitude and cold nights. Domaine Saint Damien is a long established family estate in the village, farming parcels across several sectors of the appellation. This cuvée is drawn from its oldest Grenache with a supporting hand of Mourvèdre and Syrah; vines of that age crop lightly and ripen evenly, which is what gives density without heaviness. Fermentation is traditional in concrete and the wine is raised in tank and old wood rather than new barrel, so the fruit stays out in front.

Full-bodied and firm, it suits slow cooked lamb, daube and game; decant and serve at around 17 degrees.
