Domaine Santa Duc Gigondas 'Clos des Hospices' Blanc 2024

Domaine Santa Duc Gigondas 'Clos des Hospices' Blanc is one of the first white wines of its appellation, a full-bodied blend of Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne.

Until 2023 Gigondas was red and rosé only, so white bottlings from here are brand new. The vines lie beneath the Dentelles de Montmirail, where limestone scree and altitude keep acidity intact in a hot region. Yves Gras converted the family estate to organic and biodynamic farming and works with whole bunches and little sulphur. This walled parcel is gently pressed and raised on fine lees in older wood and concrete.

Full yet taut, with orchard fruit, fennel and a dry, stony finish. Use a big glass, serve at 10–12°C, and pair with roast poultry, bouillabaisse, grilled fish or a Provençal vegetable tart.
