Domaine Vincent Dancer Chassagne-Montrachet 2023

Vincent Dancer's village Chassagne blends two well-placed parcels, Les Voillenots Dessus below the cellars and La Bergerie on the Puligny border.

Chassagne-Montrachet occupies the southern end of the Côte de Beaune, its white wines grown on limestone with varying amounts of clay, and its best village sites sit on the same band of slope as the Premiers Crus. Les Voillenots Dessus, planted in 1999, lies just below the Dancer cellars, while La Bergerie is on the same line a little further north, right on the boundary with Puligny-Montrachet, with vines a few years younger. Vincent Dancer and his son Théo work the estate at low yields and vinify the whites plainly: whole-bunch pressing, natural fermentation, very little new oak and long ageing on lees. That restraint is why the village wines here tend to show more definition and depth than the label suggests.

Drinking well from release and good for six to eight years. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled fish, roast chicken or a fresh goat's cheese.
